Rachel Feintzeig is a journalist and writer based in Connecticut.

Hi! I write about work, parenting, friendship and my oft-failed experiments in having it all. In a past life (ok, until December 2024), I was the Work + Life columnist at The Wall Street Journal, where I was on staff for 17 years.

My column was a weekly, reported piece that helped readers navigate quandaries on the job and at home. The vibe, generally, was: here’s how to get ahead without being miserable. Sometimes, I wrote about my own life and work, including takes on pregnancy, growing up and crafting an identity outside of your job.

I’m currently at work on a book about how my generation (elder millennials still count as millennials!) is navigating our 30s, and what it means to turn 40 these days. You can also find my essays in The New York Times opinion section.

In an actual past life, I attended the University of Pennsylvania, where I mostly skipped class to work at the student newspaper, and make bad decisions at parties. Two weeks after I graduated, I met a guy at a hostel in Barcelona. We now have two children, a puppy and a house in the suburbs.

When not wrangling said children and puppy, I enjoy running, shopping and watching television shows that my best friend says are for teenagers. And pretty much all carbs.
